Flamingo Pattern Hack Dress for Sew Style

So its been a good long while since I posted about being in Sew style , Fashion and home magazine. And I thought it might be a nice idea to show you the rest of the pictures I took that didn't make it into the feature!

Okay so the pattern was burda 6773 and the fabric was from abakhans.

The pattern was for a basic shift dress but I changed things up by adding ties at the sides so I cold clinch the waist.

Funnily enough my Nan was telling me she made a shift dress like this in nearly the same colour when she was younger. Sadly here's didn't have flamingos on it but its still a funny coincidence.

I'm super pleased with how it turned out and I think I might try and wear it a bit more next summer. I wasn't convinced that it was really my colour but everyone else seems to think it suits me.

Looking at the pictures I think I prefer the knot at the back so it creates a smoother shape in the front? What do you think?

In other news

Christmas madness is upon us, we are schedualing people in left right and center this year becasue everyone seems to have crazy rotas and a few people are working over christmas. Even poor rikki is having to go in on boxing day!

Im tired and trying desperately to get the house tidy in time for the big mans arrival on the 25th

Lil man is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED! Whilst last year he understood what was happening this year he REALLY understands [Cue some awkward questions "if Santa brings presents why are you buying that for [insert name here]"

Anyway!

Much Love

Frankie

P.S call me crazy but this might just be the year I make us a gingerbread house! [and by gingerbread house I mean biscuit house because neither of the boys like ginger]

Sew Style, Fashion and Home

Im not really sure how to start this post? So I'll just come out with it...... I'M IN A MAGAZINE!

Basically they got in touch and asked if I'd like to do a bit of pattern hacking for them!

And well we all know how much I love a good pattern hack!

Anyway the magazine is called sew style , fashion and home and the piece features me and meg from pigeon wishes . We both used different Burda patterns that come free with the magazine. My pattern was 6773 which was a basic shift dress. This was quite a challenge for me because I'm not a huge fan of a dress in that style!

Anyway I just thought I'd share this with you because it feels like such a huge achievement for me. And its pretty nice to see my name in print with my picture next to it! FYI my little niece cannot get over the fact that aunty frank is in a real magazine that you can buy from the shop!!!

Anyway I'm feeling pretty proud of myself! And I'm feeling extra proud because I've also been put on the Feedspot list of top 100 sewing bloggers and because I've got over 100 subscribers on my youtube channel! So not get to soppy or anything but thank you to all you guys who have been reading, watching and following me, I love interacting with you all and you guys make this blogging thing pretty awesome.

Anyway thats enough before I start crying and stuff, but here's where you can get your hands on a copy of the magazine : http://www.craftstoreuk.com/buy/sew-style-fashion-home/

Or from WHSmiths

Its £9.99 which is pretty pricey but it comes with three burda patterns, a pattern for a liberty print blouse and loads of other projects like a Missoni style top, a Boatneck top [making this] Capes, Bags, Home accessories and loads more!

Plus if you buy it you can steal my pattern hack and then we can be twins

Much Love

There's only so many pieces of fruit a person can sew.....

I have two magazines delivered a month, Disney sweets and treats and love quilting and patchwork! Which my sister and brother in law kindly got me as a present!

I stopped buying seeing magazines a while ago, it seemed to be a lot of the same old same old , lots of kitsch things to fill a house, and lots of upcycling projects I would never do! Plus every issue seemed to feature how to make a pin cushion, and nobody needs that many pin cushions!

However I am seriously enjoying love quilting and patchwork, maybe it's because it's focused on one skill, or that it features a great mixture of projects for different skill levels!

But it also has excellent free items, like things you'll actually use, not just things to clog up the place!

In fact I enjoy it that much I re read it pretty much everyday, there's nothing I like more than my morning brew and a quick retread whilst lil knitwit eats his breakfast.

But a few days ago I got another magazine surprise! Mr knitwit brought me a copy of let's knit on the way back from the barbers!

He doesn't really get the craft thing so it always surprises me when he does something like this! Anyway I was pleasantly surprised by the projects in this as well! In fact there a couple of things I'm going to try and make and one project that might encourage me to ask Mr knitwits nan how to use double pointed needles!

And as an added bonus it came with a kit to make this.

Which little knitwit has his eye on! It's patiently waiting in the knitting queue. I've got an order for a minion to do and then part three of my little lamb review and then I'm going to make this bad boy!

Much love

These are my feet this is really the only angle I've got ...

I made slippers! Well like little sock ballerina things!

Please ignore my pasty white legs! They are from a back issue of knitting magazine that I was given by nanny. And I knitted them in a lovely lilac wool given to me by nanny. I brought the buttons though!

They knit in the flat which is nice for beginners like me, you just have to watch your increases and decreases.

Now the heel is a big square on mine, which is either a pattern flaw or a Frankie flaw , and seen as I can't see the models heel in the magazine, I'm gonna say pattern flaw!

There's also an option for crochet edging but me and my hook are on bad terms at the moment.

Now after wearing them today I can say they are nice and warm even if they are a little big. I'm tempted to make a pink pair and put some ribbon on so I have ballerina slippers that will definitely stay on!

Have you been knitting recently?

Much love

Sweet mother of Martha Stewart!

I'm in craftseller magazine! Well at least my owl is, my actual face isn't present! Craftseller contacted me last year saying that they liked my stuff and would I write in and tell them more about how I got started!

And voila!

Seriously! I practically danced around tesco! We'd only popped in for lightbulbs when I went for a flick through the magazines and thought that looks familiar! I'm so pleased and proud! I immediately phoned momma and daddy Knitwit and they went and picked up a copy as well!

In other less owls news I'm taking part in the vintage sewing pledge 2015.

I Frankie Carson of www.knitwits-owls.blogspot.com pledge to finally make the vintage pattern my dad brought for me when I was 15 (and to not be a wuss about it! )

Basically when I went to the goodwood revival one year I had a massive knee infection, couldn't wear heels and had to walk with a stick. I was miserable and the tablets made me sleepy so I spent most of my time in pain or asleep and bless em mummy and daddy broughte a vintage pattern to cheer me up! Which has been sat in a draw since becuase it's terrifying!

So hopefully this year I'll be a big girl and sew it up nicely!

Much love

Frankie
