What do I read?

I love reading posts where bloggers talk about their favourite bloggers! Nothing quite like sharing the love huh!?

So here's my list of blogs I always read:

Dressmaking:

Handmade Jane

One of the first sewing blogs I ever read I love her vintage style and her chirpy outlook on life! She's not afraid of prints colour and CHERRIES!!! 

Plus she's really lovely I sent her an out of the blue email last year about finding suitable coat fabric and she came back with a great list of suggestions! 

SoZo

I love how her blog has transitioned from her rockabilly style to sharing great children's makes! It actually makes me want to start sewing things for my lil boy! 

She's currently expecting baby number two so there's more cuteness to come!!!

Karen - Did you make that

Simply put she's a beautiful writer, Its like sewing word porn! Plus she makes some really lovely wearable clothes!

Marie - A stitching Odyssey

Fantastic style and one of the organisers of the vintage pattern pledge, she makes great clothes and uses a variety of prints and lush fabrics! This jumper is one of my favourites! 

Ozzy Blackbeard

One of the only bloggers I follow who goes into LOTS of construction detail! Its almost like taking a sewing class from your front room in your jammies!

What katie sews

Really great simple style, I would love to look as effortless as she does!

Lazy Seamstress!

Jeanette is a mum of six and still manages to produce beautiful looking quirky clothes! I love her outlook on life and the way her blog covers all of her passions! I also love her daughters blog!

Charity Shop Chic

Made her wedding dress, enough said, mike drop

No but in all seriousness she transforms charity shop clothes into wearable items using what i can only assume is a mixture of sewing and witchcraft.

Lifestyle and Fashion:

Sadie - eat sleep breathe fashion

She's my cousin but that not why I love her blog, Ever since I was little and receiving her hand me downs I have always loved her style. She also does a nice mixture of fashion, accessories, make-up and baking.

The life and Times of Belle

This is another cheat really as we were in college together, but belles blogs is exactly the same as she is in person very cool, calm and grown up. I also have huge envy over her home decor!

Fantastic BRIGHT quilts, I love that she has no fear of colour and that she has some many WIP!

Everybody vogue!

I got an email a few weeks ago from my lovely sister and it went something like this "I really wish I could sew I love this coat!" 

And well one thing led to another and now we are both making this coat, together. There is a vogue sew along happening for this coat but there is no way in hell we are going to be able to keep up with that so we doing our own sister sew along! (Cute right?) 

Here's my sister 

I've grown a little since then.....

Anyhow after much discussion we actually went and purchased fabric on Sunday! We decided to go to abakhan fabrics in Stoke on Trent. Although we were slightly worried becuase they didn't seem to have a huge selection on the website, I am so glad we weren't put off going they had a Brillant selection and as always the staff were Brillant! Sometimes fabrics shops can be quite iffy but the people at abakhans are always knowledgeable and just generally lovely and helpful! 

Sadly I don't have a picture if what my sister brought, but it was a nice teal velvet for the outer coat, a silver silk for lining and some blue organza and blue velvet just because "their pretty" that's a direct quote! I think I might of created a monster! 

I got! 

Some red cotton to complete orders.

A beautiful boiled grey wool for my coat

And some nice slippy pinkish , reddish, purplish material for my lining. 

And 

Some striped  polyester drapey type material just becuase "it's pretty"! 

I also got some buttons for my coat 

I had a wonderful time shopping and thank you to momma Knitwit who also came with us and offered advice. And also thank you to handmade jane who gave some recommendations via email when I was panicking about where to find fabric! 

Now we just have to make a start
